I've been a fan of Phil Gigante for many years. I'm constantly recommending his audiobooks to people. I will never do that again. I will say that I don't know everything there is to know about this case, but I know enough that I will not support him. I also will not support Karen Marie Moning not so much that she is supporting him (which I don't like either), but for the fact that she is hiding this information from her fans. I believe that readers/listeners have the right to this information.
Here is what I do know. The man was arrested and plead GUILTY to accosting a minor for immoral purposes and possession of child sexually abusive material. I just don't believe that anyone would plead guilty for child sex crimes that they didn't do. Yes, people plead guilty for things they didn't do all the time, but not child sex crimes, because that stuff lives with you. If you look at his registered sex offender page (link below), you will see that he will be on that list until 2040. You don't plead guilty to make something go away that will put you on a list for that many years.
I feel we need to stop protecting sex offenders and stop victim blaming. I will not support anyone involved with this. I will not or listen to any book he narrates. I will not read any book she writes. I will not share any posts that about either of these two (unless they are addressing this issue, which I will share liberally).
Here are links to more information. Do with it what you will.
This is a link to his registered sex offender page.
Here is an article that explains more of what happened.
Lastly, here is a link to a great post about how Karen Marie Moning is handling it.
Updated--More posts if your interested in reading more. These are all very well written.
